In a cottage in Cornwall, where it is evening, Jane begins dialling a call. We see the call being routed to a satellite earth station and then via satellite to a house in Ceduna, South Australia where it is morning. A woman there answers the phone and is delighted to hear from Jane. Meanwhile the voiceover explains how technology has improved the experience of phoning abroad and dramatically reduced the cost. The voiceover in this version is by John Hurt.
