0214 - Tooth Fairy (Christmas)

Hoskins is looking at a photo of a child. He tells us that making international calls used to be troublesome because two operators were needed at each end. Intercut vintage clips of operators working switchboards. Hoskins tells us that now ringing a grandchild in Australia is as easy as ringing a brother in Bradford. He walks through a bedroom. A woman is in bed with her husband. She picks up the phone and dials. We cut to her grandson answering the phone in Australia. The boy's mother watches him while kneading dough. The grandmother asks him about his visit to the dentist. The boy replies that it went fine. Hoskins enters, swatting at flies. He tells us that international charges have never been lower. He listens to the boy asking his grandmother if there are tooth fairies in England. Hoskins tells us that he can't help with that question. The boy smiles, revealing a gap in his teeth.
