In a cottage in Cornwall, where it is evening, Jane begins dialling a call. We see the call being routed to a satellite earth station and then via satellite to a house in Ceduna, South Australia where it is morning. A woman there answers the phone and is delighted to hear from Jane. Meanwhile the voiceover explains how technology has improved the experience of phoning abroad and dramatically reduced the cost. A 3 minute call to Australia now costs £2.43. The voiceover is by Derek Jacobi.
