0204 - Bakers

Hoskins walks through a busy industrial kitchen. He talks to the audience about the rational and emotional sides of the brain. He says that it matters which side we use on the phone. He stops beside a chef, George. George picks up the phone to dial a number. We cut to a restaurant where the phone is ringing. The restaurant manager, Arturo, answers. Hoskins asks us to observe the rational side at work. George asks Arturo to confirm his order for bageuttes. He hangs up as soon as Arturo has done so. Hoskins asks us to observe what would've happened if George had used his emotional side. George calls Arturo again. He asks Arturo about the weekend and mentions that he'll be coming to his restaurant for a meal soon. George then moves on to confirm the baguette order with Arturo. They hang up. Hoskins walks into Arturo's restaurant. He tells the audience that Arturo may not have increased his order but it was a nicer call. Arturo gets up to ring the kitchen back. He asks George to add to his bread order. Hoskins tells the audience that they should use the emotional side of the brain more often. George asks Arturo if he's interested in purchasing cakes. Hoskins: "It's good to talk. It's good for business too".
