0222 - Private Payphone

We open in a darkened cinema. A young couple are kissing while the film is showing. They're interrupted by new arrivals whose seats they've taken. They reluctantly stand up and leave. Hoskins tells us that it's not easy to get privacy, even at home we have an audience. We cut to the young man at home on the phone to his girlfriend. They're arguing about the cinema seats. The rest of the young man's family is in the living room eavesdropping on the conversation.The young man hangs up with his girlfriend saying he'll call her later. In the next scene, the young man walks towards a public payphone outside a shop. Hoskins tells us that if we want a private call we can use a payphone. The young man goes inside the booth and calls his girlfriend. They make amends and arrange to meet again. Hoskins: "It's good to talk".
